Sara Kassen serves as the Director for Stewardship Communications, overseeing all acknowledgments from the Vice President for University Relations and the Office of the President, as well as the Badin Guild program. Her role on the Stewardship team is a fitting culmination of her twenty-year career in storytelling and donor relations. She began in her beloved Northern Michigan as a general assignment reporter for the local NBC affiliate. She then married and moved to the South Bend area to join her husband, Sean, who was attending the University of Notre Dame. Delighted to embrace the field of education, she served as the director of marketing, communications, and public relations for Holy Cross College.

In 2007, Sara joined the stewardship team at Notre Dame and found her perfect fit. Over the years, her responsibilities have evolved, encompassing liaison roles, annual endowment and impact reporting, event planning, and donor recognition, but she has always had a hand in acknowledgments, writing and editing, and impact communications.

Sara holds a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in communication from Alma College. Her daughters are Lydia and Neve, her dog is Nebula, and her cat is Nala.
